Doctor Vs. Doctor

6 10 2009

President Obama surrounded himself with doctors today, saying doctors supported health care reform. He even provided them free white lab coats for the photo op so they would look “doctorish”.obamabear

Only problem with that is….not all doctors support HIS health care reform. With or without a white lab coat.

Here is a great recap from House Leader Boehner on the Republican plan. Note that Republicans continue to be the only party addressing outrageous lawsuits – which has always been a huge factor in driving up healthcare costs.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after the President made remarks on health care at the White House accompanied by doctors:

“Medical societies and thousands of doctors from throughout the nation have spoken out against Washington Democrats’ costly government takeover of health care because it would cripple their ability to care properly for patients.

“Members of the medical community – who deal with red tape day in and day out – rightly recognize that the Democrats’ government takeover would weaken the doctor-patient relationship that is so critical to making the right health care decisions.  Doctors are also justifiably concerned about placing additional burdens on working families and small businesses.

“What’s more, Democrats’ proposals fail to include real junk lawsuit reform that would put an end to the costly practice of defensive medicine and protect our doctors from a feeding frenzy of trial lawyers – a key priority for health professionals.

“By undermining what works in our current system and failing to fix what’s broken, Democrats’ costly government takeover of health care is the worst of both worlds.  That’s why Republicans have proposed better solutions to lower costs and expand coverage while ensuring our medical community can continue to provide patients with high-quality care.”

NOTE: Seven state medical societies, three specialty medical associations, and two former Presidents of the American Medical Association representing 43,000 doctors have written a letter to House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Waxman stating that they are adamantly opposed to Democrats’ costly government takeover of health care.  The American College of Surgeons has expressed concerns with both Democrats’ proposals and the rhetoric being employed to garner support for them.  And in a nationally televised GOP address last month, Dr. Charles Boustany (R-LA), a heart surgeon who represents Louisiana’s 7th District in Congress, discussed the better solutions Republicans are offering.

Where’s the Republican Plan? Well here’s another…

15 09 2009

Obama mocked Republicans again today in a speech before more of his union supporters – saying “where is their plan?”

There are several, but this one has recently come to my attention…and I like it.

Here is the bill HR 3400 – Empowering Patients First Act.

It gives tax credits and deductions on a sliding scale so you can purchase insurance – and you can use pre tax dollars to buy coverage. It allows small businesses and groups (like Chamber of Commerce’s) to pool together to buy insurance. It allows you to purchase insurance across state lines. And it advocates establishment of health courts that know how to accurately assess medical liability cases – rather than the way lawsuits work now where anyone sues and the sympathy of a soccer mom on a jury determines randomly excessive awards. Nothing against soccer moms, but I -if on a jury – would not have any idea on how to put a dollar amount on unfortunate damages.

It is a good plan that does not completely revamp our society. It does not make businesses pay 8% penalties for not having adequate coverage for employees. It does not make citizens pay a 2.5% tax if you do not have insurance.

Too bad Obama and the Democrats are so entrenched in winning this that they cannot recognize another good plan when it comes along. In fact, Obama chooses to ignore it.

I’ve just been told I’m for “death and disease”

12 09 2009

Now the scolding from the side that wants mandatory healthcare for everyone, with 8% penalties for employers, with 2.5% taxes on Americans who do not have coverage…comes this:

Those like me that are opposed to Obama’s healthcare reform are for “death and disease”

This is what an Orlando, Florida group said on Saturday, the same day an estimated 2 million gathered in Washingtonlive912 D.C. to protest big government, out of control spending and basically the Obama administration’s handling of everything. Here is a traffic cam look at the crowd. Nice turnout and barely a scratch to the surface of the frustration that is building in this country.

Supporters of Obamacare need to seriously read the bill. There is some very, very scary and expensive stuff in there just to get 11% of Americans who don’t have health insurance covered.

Obama is taking this very personally. He is making this an issue about him and rallying his troops to pass this for him.

Anyone holding up a pro Obamacare sign should be asked if they have even read the bill and understand what this means for them. And they need to stop saying that because I don’t support massive debt to pay for government mandated and government run healthcare that I’m for “death and disease.”

Good luck treating your diseases with Obama care and be sure to make your required “Advance Death Planning” meeting before you die – supporters. Read the bill – it is in there!

HR 3200

29 08 2009

Here is the link to HR3200 – the trainwreck of a bill that will change America – more taxes; penalities for those who don’t comply; $10 billion subsidy for unions; insurance to non-US citizens; real time access to your finances; mandated Advance Death Care Planning; and $30 billion Prevention and Wellness fund.

More ObamaCare Penalties

29 08 2009

Did you know in HR 3200 you will be taxed 2.5% of your gross income if you do not have “acceptable coverage”? obamabear

You cannot “opt” out of healthcare. Well actually they do have a few categories where you can opt out – being in a religious sect is one of them.

This is not a joke. If you are a millionaire – there is not a provision for you to get out of this travesty. Being self insured with your own wealth means you have to pay a 2.5% tax for that privilege.

And remember, Democrats are counting millionaires who are rich enough to never need a pesky thing as insurance as among the “uninsured.”

And for employers, they face a $100 per employee per day penalty for not providing “acceptable coverage.”

Here is the link to the section of the bill.

And remember, Obama said no taxes will go up on singles making less than $200,000 or couples making $250,000. That is a lie if you are rich and you never needed health insurance. Get ready to pay – want it or not!

Broken Promises: The Series

25 08 2009

Minority Leader Boehner has a great run down on several of Obama’s broken promises on healthcare reform – ops I obameter_promiseBrokenmean health insurance reform. Here is one from the bill:

Pages 116-128; Sections 221-225 – The House Democrats’ bill establishes a new government-run health plan that, according to nonpartisan actuaries at the Lewin Group, would cause as many as 114 million Americans to lose their existing coverage. Moving these Americans from their current plan into a government-run plan violates the President’s oft-stated promise that “if you like your current coverage, you can keep it.” Both the Associated Press and ABC News have already debunked this pledge, noting that White House officials have acknowledged the President’s rhetoric shouldn’t be taken “literally.”

If we are not to take the President literally, how are we supposed to take him? Wee-weed?

Have YOU read HR3200?

11 08 2009

Now that Obama has come out with his community organizers and paid supporters (yes- there were jobs posted on Craigslist for this) to hold signs supporting  health care – ops health insurance –  reform, I wonder…have they read HR3200?

Have you?

I tried – it is a difficult read that I can’t understand. But I have read the following summary. This is MUST READ for all Americans.

Among the items in the massive bill are:

  • Heathcare will be provided to non U.S. citizens
  • A National Health ID card will be issued to everyone. And to think Democrats think requiring a drivers license to vote is discriminatory.
  • They will “need” – and get – real time access to your finances (sec 431, pg 195) – access to all Americans financial personal records.
  • Businesses making $400,000 or more who do NOT participate in the plan will be penalized and forced to pay an 8% tax.
  • Doctors will be told what they can make and all will be paid the same – regardless of specialty
  • The plan mandates Advance Death Care Planning. Gosh if you are old and dying I hope you get to that planning meeting in time…
  • It adds a Prevention and Wellness fund – an additional $30 billion cost!

It goes on and on….it is just unbelievable when so many Americans are satisfied with their health insurance why this is even coming up.

Meanwhile, drug companies will be able to charge today’s high prices in the system – thanks to the deal they privately cut with Obama. Some reform, huh?

So when you look at the hired help holding up “pro” health reform signs – you have got to wonder if these options are what they REALLY want….or are they simply just trying to “win” something…
