Halloween: Time To Hang Your Hateful Decorations…

19 10 2009

A repeatable reminder of just a year ago:

Now that Liberals – and the White House staff – are claiming that conservatives are full of hate and rage, I thought this Palinhalloweena good time to remind myself of the mannequin of Sarah Palin hanging from a West Hollywood home. A year ago, this was considered “art” and “holiday decor” – the act was not denounced then by candidate Obama.  The Rev. Jackson or Al Sharpton did not come to the defense. Where was Oprah? Whoopie? I don’t remember ANY liberal news organization saying this was in bad taste, reckless, hateful or …anything!

A reminder of what the homeowner said at the time:

Chad Michael Morisette, who lives in the house, told CBS 2 News that drivers and bus passengers have been stopping to snap pictures of the macabre scene.

Morisette says the effigy would be out of bounds at any other time of year, but it’s within the spirit of Halloween.

He says “it should be seen as art, and as within the month of October. It’s Halloween, it’s time to be scary it’s time to be spooky.”

But…. average Americans attending town hall meetings expressing frustration over the performance record of the people THEY have hired are considered “mobs” and “hateful”. A politician that shouts “You Lie” when the President was lying is called hateful. It’s a funny standard liberals have, isn’t it!

Yeah it is time to be scared and spooky: Obama is in the White House, we have record deficits, no war strategy, a bogged down health care bill that most Americans say they don’t need, Cash for Anything, record unemployment…there is more scary stuff than there is candy in a 10-year-old’s trick-or-treat bag.

Let Me Be Clear….

19 10 2009

As if you are a child ignoring your mother….”Let me be clear” is the phrase you often hear from Mr. Magic SpeechObama Virginia Maker Obama. It is a scolding, condescending, drop-what-you-are-doing-and-listen-to-me phrase he uses again and again.

This is a great article about how often he has used the phrase. Click here.

Now if he would only BE clear about his policies – such as making a decision on the war in Afghanistan – he could have his talk match his walk.

The NFL: Dying like Old Media

18 10 2009

Now that the dust is settling from this week’s Rush Limbaugh/NFL Ram’s mess comes a typical NFL Sunday…and justj0436614 like last Sunday…my family couldn’t care less.

The NFL and Commission Roger Goodell’s statements this week that Rush Limbaugh was too divisive to be part of a limited partnership to own a team over the top. Limbaugh was the victim of a baseless attack by African Americans who want to use the race card to advance anything they want – any time they want. The dying media reported quotes Limbaugh has never said, and the NFL – never stopping to do due diligence – cut an old white man out of a the deal of his dreams.

Goodell’s reckless statement this week just frames for me the problems I have been having the past few seasons with the NFL. Among them:

  • Reduced broadcast of games – forcing people to premium and expensive NFL channels to watch (read: Greed)
  • Ridiculous ticket prices – so the average family of four must spend hundreds of dollars to go to a game (read: Greed)
  • Crazy player trading – off season and in season – so now you don’t even know who is on which team (read: Stupid)
  • Out of control player behavior (dog fighting, guns in clubs, wife beating and/or driving over wife with car).

The NFL is not exciting anymore. Franchises are beginning to loose their identifications – mostly because fans don’t even know who is on the team – or who is coaching them. The players keep getting richer – and evidently less educated as more and more leave college early to pursue the dollar.

Around my house, there used to be jerseys worn on Sunday, mini helmets scattered about the coffee table in formation of the day’s match ups, occasionally I’d bake a football or stadium shaped cake. None of this happens anymore because the males in my house – and the lone female – don’t really care.

Goodell proved this week what a horrible leader he is for the NFL. He is leading a dying group…. just like the antique media – who also proved their incompetence again this week by repeating unsourced information from Wikipedia to remove a potential investor whose only infraction is that he is critical of their beloved Obama.

We used to cheer the arrival of football season – now I think we’d be happier with an infomercial for the “Ab Pro” on the TV instead. Or…… maybe broadcast Limbaugh’s show on Sunday – it might get better ratings.

ObamaCarts for Everyone

18 10 2009

Who knew?

Obama – the economic stimulus genius that he is – has a great freebie for everyone: free golf carts!

There is a federal tax credit on the heels of Cash for Clunkers that provides from $4,200 to $5,500 for the purchase of an electric vehicle. According to the Wall Street Journal, when you combine this with some state incentives – you can practically pay for the entire cart.

The IRS has qualified golf carts for the electric car credit as long as they are road worthy. Add some mirrors, seat belts and a horn and off you can go to the neighborhood bus stop, nearby soccer game, or shopping center as easy as playing the front nine.

As fun as that would be….consider what a huge waste of taxpayer money.

Hopenchange: Wrong Track

8 10 2009

It all seemed so promising this time last year. All the campaign speeches about “Hope and Change”, “Change we canobameter_promiseBroken believe in” and all that stuff. Most Americans bought it. The wisest of us did not.

And now it seems most Americans are becoming wise.

A great link here to Real Clear Politics Right Direction/Wrong Track survey results. There has been no surge of agreement that this country is on the right direction even since Mr. Hopenchange took office. Their post includes many other surveys, including liberal ones. Only 36% say the country is in the right direction, while 58.8% say it is wrong. Those are some stunningly upside down numbers for a new administration only 10 months old – an administration that ran a campaign entirely on the promise of CHANGE.

Obamacare Lingo

6 10 2009

It seems that part of the plan in passing healthcare reform (reform that most Americans do not want) is adding in aj0282851new language most people don’t understand. Perhaps liberals are thinking people that don’t know these terms will be too embarrassed to ask what they are, and just go with their plan.

So here is my attempt to define three of the latest healthcare buzz words:

VAPOR BILL – this is a piece of legislation that has no words. Favored by Democrats to try to quickly get a bill passed so they can add words later – words of their choosing. This is why it is difficult for them to read the bill….it has no words. It sounds…I don’t know… tricky??

CADILLAC PLAN – this is not my plan to get the new SRX Crossover…but the term to describe a huge tax Democrats will impose on insurance companies – a tax that they are counting on to raise money to pay for the healthcare plan. It is a 35% tax on insurance companies that offer individual plans that cost more than $8,000 – or family plans that cost more than $21,000. So if you want to insure your family really well – and you want – and can afford – a generous health insurance plan – the insurance company you buy this from has to pay a 35% penalty for offering you what you want. So guess what happens? They are going to pass that cost along to you. So people won’t pay extra for generous insurance; insurance companies will go out of business because no one is buying their product, and everyone will end up in the government’s plan, and now the government does not have a revenue stream to pay for it.

THE EXCHANGE, OR EXCHANGE CREDIT – this is a tax credit for certain low income people for the purpose of purchasing health insurance. So they get a tax credit for purchasing insurance, which under the government’s plan, everyone will be required to have. If you don’t have insurance, you pay a tax penalty of 2.5%. Read: free insurance for lower incomes or redistribution of wealth.

Doctor Vs. Doctor

6 10 2009

President Obama surrounded himself with doctors today, saying doctors supported health care reform. He even provided them free white lab coats for the photo op so they would look “doctorish”.obamabear

Only problem with that is….not all doctors support HIS health care reform. With or without a white lab coat.

Here is a great recap from House Leader Boehner on the Republican plan. Note that Republicans continue to be the only party addressing outrageous lawsuits – which has always been a huge factor in driving up healthcare costs.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement after the President made remarks on health care at the White House accompanied by doctors:

“Medical societies and thousands of doctors from throughout the nation have spoken out against Washington Democrats’ costly government takeover of health care because it would cripple their ability to care properly for patients.

“Members of the medical community – who deal with red tape day in and day out – rightly recognize that the Democrats’ government takeover would weaken the doctor-patient relationship that is so critical to making the right health care decisions.  Doctors are also justifiably concerned about placing additional burdens on working families and small businesses.

“What’s more, Democrats’ proposals fail to include real junk lawsuit reform that would put an end to the costly practice of defensive medicine and protect our doctors from a feeding frenzy of trial lawyers – a key priority for health professionals.

“By undermining what works in our current system and failing to fix what’s broken, Democrats’ costly government takeover of health care is the worst of both worlds.  That’s why Republicans have proposed better solutions to lower costs and expand coverage while ensuring our medical community can continue to provide patients with high-quality care.”

NOTE: Seven state medical societies, three specialty medical associations, and two former Presidents of the American Medical Association representing 43,000 doctors have written a letter to House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Waxman stating that they are adamantly opposed to Democrats’ costly government takeover of health care.  The American College of Surgeons has expressed concerns with both Democrats’ proposals and the rhetoric being employed to garner support for them.  And in a nationally televised GOP address last month, Dr. Charles Boustany (R-LA), a heart surgeon who represents Louisiana’s 7th District in Congress, discussed the better solutions Republicans are offering.
